Andhra Pradesh: Kalamkari Elephants

alam-pen, Kari- craftmandhip: A Block printed or handpainted textile from Andhra Pradesh and Telengana known for it's vibrant colors and sharp black lines. Usually featuring motifs from nature or Hindu epics such as the Ramyana or Mahabaratha, this technique was traditionally done via free hand and with modern daybhas transformed and is created digitally as well.

For these earrings, it seemed right to use some traditional techniques by handpainting, cutting and detailing these vibrant elephants. The 14K gold filled hoop is light weight, comfortable, and nearly invisible so the entire focus would be on the details of the earing itself.
